Pineapple Willy's serves up a heaping donation to Humane Society of Bay County
Panama City Beach, Fla. -
Though their specialty is serving up heaping portions of ribs to hungry tourists and locals alike, Pineapple Willy's owners' special last week was donations to local charities.
On behalf of Pineapple Willy's and the Buskell family, which owns Pineapple Willy's restaurant on Panama City Beach, Eric Buskell presented a check to the Humane Society of Bay County on Monday for $10,420.00. The donation was the culmination of the Buskells' "Community Days" campaign held Aug. 24-28 in which they donated 100 percent of the restaurant's gross sales to several local animal rescue organizations.
The Buskells have held similar fundraisers in the past as part of their strong committment to helping Bay County's homeless animals said Eric Buskell.
"My personal goal for The Humane Society of Bay County, was $10,000.00, which we surpassed, Buskell said. "I am very happy to give this check to an organization that keeps struggling to remain a no-kill facility," he said.
"The Buskell family and the whole Pineapple Willy's crew consistently open their hearts and their wallets for a cause that they believe in -- helping homeless animals," said Niki Tudge, Executive Director of The Humane Society of Bay County. "Without the kind of philanthropy that they consistently demonstrate, countless animals would go without help, veterinary care, and forever homes," she said. "We are, as always, humbled and greatly honored by the Buskells' generosity."
The Buskells also sponsor the Humane Society's signature events
each year, Tudge noted, and is proud to sponsor blues artist Johnny Rawls to perform at the upcoming "Barkin' on the Bay" event on October 17 at the Bay Point Marina.
