The Independent Adoptions section, although hosted by the Humane Society of Bay County (HSBC), is not a part of nor should it be construed to be a part of the operations of the HSBC. It is solely provided by the HSBC to the public as a convenience and information resource for caregivers of animals who need new homes.
The animals listed under Independent Adoption are available from their current caregiver and are not a part or in any way affiliated with the HSBC. The HSBC makes no representation as to the accuracy or timeliness of any information contained in the Independent Adoption pages. Each caregiver is responsible for the accuracy of the information presented for each pet. Each potential adopter is responsible for verifying this information.
Each individual considering adoption from another individual should always proceed with caution and utilize responsible adoption procedures, including the following:

The HSBC merely provides web space to assist caregivers in finding suitable new homes and to assist potential adopters in locating a suitable pets. The HSBC will not be held liable for any animal's actions, nor does it provide any warranty regarding listed dogs' health or temperament.
Please keep in mind that the HSBC Independent Adoptions is NOT a shelter. This forum merely provides additional web exposure for animals in need in order to increase their chance of finding a suitable home. Caregivers are entirely responsible for the placement of the animal(s). Potential adopters are entirely responsible for the verification of caregivers' claims.
Each person, whether caregiver or potential adopter, agrees that they have read the foregoing information and agrees that all of the statements set forth above are true and correct. Further, each person agrees that the use of the Independent Adoptions site is made in accordance with the foregoing statements and that the HSBC is not responsible for any content contained on the Independent Adoptions site. Posting Requirements: Animals posted over the age of 6 months must be spayed or neutered without exception. All caregivers must be able to provide proof of altered status, vaccinations, rabies shot and heartworm status upon request by the HSBC and by the potential adopter.
Updates: Once an animal is posted to the Independent Adoptions site, caregivers will be required to send a monthly update on the status of the dog. Without an update, we will assume that our assistance is no longer needed, and the Independent Adoption animal will removed from our site.

My name is Nohvi (short for November, the month I was rescued) and I need a new home. My owners love me very much and I love them. We have a lot of fun playing Frisbee and tug-of-war, and snuggling together. I also love wading in the garden fish pond when I get hot. I follow my people everywhere and enjoy meeting their friends.
However there is one very big problem. I don’t like sharing my home with other dogs. There are 6 other dogs here which I’m not thrilled about. And because I’ve attacked two of them, I am now restricted to the upstairs hallway while the other dogs get to run around the bottom floor. I can see them so it’s not too bad, and my owners take me outside several times a day for exercise and to relieve myself (did I mention I’m housebroken?). But what I really want is a home for myself. Where I can run around freely and stay near my owners whenever they’re home. I promise to love you and protect you from any danger! Can you help me find a home like this? Please?

Description: My son adopted Killian from the HSBC March of 2006 at about two months old. Not sure of her breed, but looks just like pictures of an American Stafforshire Terrier. She has lived mostly with us since my son's work and military career has him away most of the time. She is mostly an outside dog, now, because we have so many other pets, but she has been house broken and comes in when the weather is bad. She's a great dog, but needs a home with someone that can spend more time with her. She loves to play and has never been aggressive with kids or our cats. She would need some acclimating around other dogs especially small breeds, as she has little experience with them. Killian has played well with friend's dogs of her size, but she's not fond of our Chihuahua. Of couse, the yapping makes them hard to love, sometimes. |

Description: Elsie is a special Standard Schnauzer puppy I found at 4 months old. Elsie didnt have a great start but she has a winning attitude. Elsie is potty trained and house trained sleeps in a crate as her bed or safe haven. She loves to play ball, tug of war sits and is gaining a very good vocabulary. I use good dog theory always using "good dog" and happy voice I only use a deeper stearn voice to say "no no" and redirect her this works for her. Elsie is very smart puppy and learns quickly. She weighs 15 lbs now will end up about 25 her Vet Says Dr. Flowers on Hwy 79. I am not trying to let her go I love her but I have two Jack Russell who like her but I want to find her a healthy happy responsible, home with people who like to walk and play with their dogs who will keep her inside and go for regular walks this is how she will be happy. Description: I am having to surrender my dad's dogs because he unexpectedly lost vision in both eyes and is experiencing short term memory loss. My dad is currently in a nursing home and unfortunately will not be able to return home as we were hoping. He lived alone so he was responsible for the dog's care. His neighbor has so kindly been taking care of the dogs, however they desperately need to find loving homes. There are two dogs that need to be surrendered. They live in Lynn Haven, FL. Patty is a 9 year old part coon dog. Patty is very sweet, but does have some fear issues. Someone would have to work with her and be gentle with her to gain her trust. Description: Penny is a Lab-like dog with an awesome personality--very happy-go-lucky!!. She's a sweet and beautiful, but she does not appreciate kitty-cats which is why she needs a new home. Playtime, treats and walks are her very favorite things. Penny is great with kids--tolerates hugs and tugs really well. She's super playful, loves playing fetch inside with her squeeky toy but quick to settle down on her bed when playtime is over. Penny is always ready for a walk and if she gets to stop to watch some squirrels it's even better! She won't get on the furniture unless you say it's ok and she does not sleep in the bed. She has her own bed and know that's her spot. Penny is very smart, potty-trained, leash trained and knows most of her commands. She rides well in the car and only weighs 30lbs so she's the perfect size! She is up-to-date on her shots, spayed and heartworm negative--on monthly preventive. Description: Rocky lived his life outside on a chain before his owner finally gave him to me. He has fit in just fine in my home and with my two labs. He is crate trained and house trained and we are working on walking on a lease. He is about 8 months old and about 26 pounds. He will be current on his vaccinations and neutered in the next week. My pet mom recently found out she is pregnant. Wow! However, she doesn't think she will be able to continue to take GREAT care of me and herself...it would be too much of a challenge. I was born in the streets and was found and turned over to the Humane Society. The first 6 months of my life was in a shelter, until my doggy mom saw me on the Humane Society’s website adoption page. She fell in love with me automatically and picked me up the same day! We have been together ever since, for the last year. She's realized that I love to socialize (I get along well with other dogs, people/children, and even cats). I just hope with my charm, happiness, and love that I will find a loving home. Description: The renter at our property moved out and left this sweet sweet puppy (she was starving)! She has beautiful amber eyes and she is as sweet as she is cute. Incredible loving disposition. She gets along great with my two 20 lb dogs and ignores the cat! She wants to be a lap dog. She is great when feeding - you can take food from her and give food to her with no response. The only thing we have noticed is that she is lease averse - she will follow you anywhere and doesn't run away - but she will resist any attempt to pull her along on a leash! She is about 40 pounds and appears to be any combo of Akita/Boxer/Red Nose Pit. This young girl will make a great pet! She loves to play and chase a ball and I think loves other dogs. Description: Litter of seven kittens born on 6/9/12. They are all healthy, alert & active. Sex of each kitten is unknown as of now. 3 grey & black striped (some white white also) , 3 orange & white striped, & 1 black & white. We need help getting these kittens adopted. There is also a Mama Kitty & her son from the 1st litter. I am arranging to have them both spayed & neutered, but need to find homes for the kittens. |

Description: I have 4 kittens 11 weeks old. I adopted the mother cat from a neighbor who had to move out of the country. She told me she had her shots and was fixed. Well 2 months later she had 4 babies. I can not have multiple animals in my apartment. |

Description: Even tho these kitties were birthed and brought to our backyard last April.Even tho I have found homes for 2 of them I have 4 that still need homes.Luna is white. Sweetie and Ebony are black.Sable is black with brown undertones. The mother cat is long gone, and I've worked to socialize them the past few months. They are very affectionate now and love to purr, be petted and sit on my lap. The white kittie is a little more cautious but will with time (I believe)be just as affectionate. The only kittie I am pretty sure is a male is Sweetie. They have not been able to come inside because of family members being allergic to cats,but would love to and try to sneak in when the door is opened, so it is my guess they would make great house cats. I have a litter box on the back porch and they do use it. |

Description: Angel is a shy miniature main coon cat who is loosing her daddy to Alzheimers. He can not take care of her any more. She loved to sit on his lap and soak up the love and needs someone to give her a good place to live. Right now she is scared but needs a new home. She has been living with a dog and 2 other cats for a long time but would be perfectly happy to be on her own. |
